A career coach in Richmond, VA with glasses wearing a colorful floral blouse and white pants standing outside in front of a glass building.

I’m a recovering perfectionist and high achiever who spent the first half of my career in higher ed and ed-tech, racking up as many accomplishments as I could–moving into increasing positions of leadership, pursuing a Ph.D. while working full-time (yes, I’m a Capricorn sun, why do you ask?). The harder I worked, the more work there seemed to be. And all the while, I was becoming increasingly disconnected from myself.

So that’s how, at 40 years old, I found myself at a breaking point. I’d been running at full speed for so long that when I finally stopped to look around, I didn’t even know how I’d gotten to this point. What did I actually want from my career? I knew something needed to change, but I felt like I’d lost my ability to imagine how things could be different.

I’d started practicing tarot, and one evening, I pulled the Three of Wands–a card about standing on the precipice of a new world, a new adventure. I read this interpretation from the brilliant Jessica Dore: “So if you find yourself standing between worlds, wanting to leap but feeling scared to… if you’re asking questions about how to willingly break your own heart, or to be a beginner in a way that feels scary, or abandon a thing that would compromise the lifestyle you’ve come to depend on, well, you are a lucky one. And I think knowing that gives you a good rock to jump from.”

There was a truth that settled deep in my bones at that moment. I knew it was time for me to jump, to finally start living a life defined on my own terms. So, I quit my job with nothing else lined up and trusted that I would make my path by walking it. My guiding light during this time was coaching–a space where I could reflect, define what really mattered to me, and start expanding my capacity to create the life and career I really want.

Today, I’m honored to offer that space to people like you, people who want to make a change and know they don’t have to do this alone. Let’s have some fun together.

Hi, I’m Ashley.
